Storytelling: Words in Motion
Sure, you can tell a great story over dinner, but how persuasive are you standing in front of clients or colleagues? If you’re fidgeting during the meeting, what message does that send?
The secret to getting to the answer you want is by focusing on the story your words AND your body are telling.
Join us for a unique workshop that’s more fun and enlightening than it has a right to be.
Storytelling: Words in Motion features two of Chicago’s in-demand story and presentation trainers: Erin Diehl with improve it! and Jill Pollack of StoryStudio Chicago.
This unique workshop will help you answer two important questions:
1. What story do I tell?
2. What do I do with my body while I’m telling it?
How Does This Workshop Work?
We’ll start with introductions and warm-ups before we dig into some of the key elements every story needs in order to succeed. You’ll learn tips and strategies for reaching your audience and sculpting the right story they need to hear.
In addition to a little bit of writing, you’ll also be on your feet for some physical storytelling. We’ll experiment with improvisational techniques that can open doors to creativity, teach you to “actively listen,” and help you develop a strong presentational presence. (Don’t worry, we won’t make you bark like a dog.)
Over the course of two hours, you will learn:
- Strategies for identifying the message your audience needs to hear
- Creative techniques to think quickly on your feet
- Listening skills to help you better connect with your audience
- Collaboration tools to help your whole team tell the right story
